A retired Marine Corps Officer with 1,000+ flight hours and leadership across ranks, Joel honed his strategic mindset and dedication to service. These values shine through in his entrepreneurial ventures:

Mark Levy has served as the Director of the Roanoke Valley Governor’s School since 2016. He earned a BS in Biochemistry with a Chemistry minor from Virginia Tech, a MS in Biotechnology from Johns Hopkins, and a MS in Education-Administration & Supervision from Old Dominion University. Before coming to RVGS, he taught Biology at Patrick Henry High School for 10 years, where he served as science department chair and won the Roanoke City Teacher of the Year award in 2015. He serves as the co-chair of the committee of Academic-Year Governor’s School Directors, Vice President of the State Science Fair Board, and is the chairman of the Virginia Advisory Committee for Advanced Learning advising the VA Board of Education.
