From Problem to Prototype
Dr. Umar Sofi is creating a smart, patient-responsive high-flow oxygen delivery system that addresses the pain points experienced by health care professionals and patients using the current systems. He will talk about his journey from idea to prototype, lessons learned, and what he anticipates the future holds.
About The Speaker
Dr. Sofi is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, and a pulmonary critical care physician and Director of the Intensive Care Unit at Carilion Clinic. He is passionate about improving patient outcomes. His board certifications in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Neurocritical Care Medicine, allow him to analyze and treat illnesses with absolute proficiency. Along with research and development, teaching and mentoring are part of his identity as a physician. He strives to continuously impact and inspire medical students and physicians in training.
